Zhang Ning! she won again! she played against Xia Xing Feng. It was like watching 2 tall sticks playing badminton. both are so tall! about the height of 1.78m! its too tall for a girl, ok. Xie Xing Feng didn't pia for the rubber match cuz i think her back was starting to ache again. Poor girl! Though Zhang Ning is relatively old, she was still able to seize first position! While Boonsak was celebrating his first major breakthrough, China's Zhang Ning captured an unprecedented fifth singles crown in just six outings (lost to Zhou Mi in the 2002 finals) here beating her rival and team-mate, Xie Xingfang, in a three game encounter in scores of 21-18,19-21, 21-3 in one hour.

The odds were stacked highly against the 32 year old Zhang Ning right from the start but age was not a handicap for her, at least in her match against the World's No. 1 today.

Drawing upon her vast experience, Zhang Ning kept her much younger opponent pinned at the back of the court which prevented Xingfang from unleashing her trademark deadly smashes.
The first game went Zhang Ning's way and the second was destined to follow suit until a brave attempt at the very crucial moments from Xingfang, kept the contest alive.

The rubber was easy as the scoreline suggests. Zhang Ning took her fifth Singapore Open title together with the US$13,800 winner's cheque in 60 minutes.

"The Singapore Indoor stadium has been a happy hunting ground for me. I have won five titles here in six outings and I was a runner-up to Zhou Mi in 2002. So maybe the memories of those happy moments have given me the confidence to win another one today," said the five-time Aviva Open Singapore Champion (2001, 03, 04, 05, 07).

For Xingfang, the world's ranked No. 1 and the reigning world champion, defeat to her team mate meant that the Singapore crown will continue to elude her.

"I have played in the Aviva Open Singapore three times now but with no success," lamented the runner-up.

"Maybe the next time I will go one better. However, there is no regret today because I thought I have tried my best but Zhang Ning played much better than me. She was in control throughout the match," explained Xingfang.

Zhang Ning's triumph came soon after China had scored their opening victory when their women's doubles pair of Zhang Yawen and Wei Yili, the World's No. 1, overcame the challenge of fellow team mates, Zhao Tingting and Yang Wei in the finals in scores of 10-21, 21-19, 21-18 to confirm their superiority.

Indonesia's Flandy Limpele and Vita Marissa upset the Thai combination of Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thoungthongkam, the tournament's third seed, 21-4, 21-13 to capture the mixed doubles title.

But the heartbreaking story of the day was the loss of Malaysia's Choong Tan Fook and Lee Wan Wah to China's world number one pair of Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng in the final of the men doubles.
They had battled it out in court for a good 69 minutes before the Chinese won in 16-21, 24-22, 21-18 to capture their first victory in Singapore.

Pei Yan swore that the Malaysian men's doubles players are gays! haha. its the way they interact, i guess. HAHA

ok, that's all about Aviva Open's Finals. went to Old Airport Road to eat again with Bibi, Sin yee, Rui Zhi, Tancy, Pei Yan, Wing Tong and Paul. this is my first time seeing Paul cuz he's like, 5 years my senior. the seniors were all full of praises of Paul when they introduced us juniors to him. things like," He made TPSS proud, top singles, SBA player, represented Singapore a few years back, u should watch him play! i think u'll faint. " if all these comes out from Tancy's, Pei Yan's and Wing Tong's mouth, meant that he was really great in badminton. yup. so this is a brief introduction.

during dinner, Wing Tong and Paul told us about the days in Ns. SO INTERESTING! ok, blablabla..

an advice to girls out there whose boyfriend is currently serving Ns, please be more understandable. sometimes after ur guy come home for the weekend, let him rest first. he might sound distant or tempremental at times cuz he had hell in camp. he might not even want to go out for a date with u because he is just dead tired and just want to drop dead and sleep the whole weekend. so be more understanding and just take a day after another ok? =D JIA YOU! x)

sat bus 33 home and i really enjoyed the company of the seniors. Especially Pei Yan, which was rather surprising cuz after all those years of training with her, a fierce impression of her has been engraved in my head. but seeing how crazy, friendly and jolly she is yesterday and today, i take back my words.
